Electroacoustic Music | Mixtur

Concert n.8: Electroacoustic Music at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC)

Music produced with electricity, despite having a history of about a century, has given rise to an immense variety of practices and aesthetics around the world. The term “electroacoustic music” encompasses these practices, among which we find, for example, acousmatic music, mixed music and the soundscape.

ALPHA MISFITS by Scilla Rajalin

Alpha Misfits is a contest, a verdict, a game - with no prize, no evidence and very few rules.

Departing from methods of documentary making, this work portrays a radical search for relationship and identity. It’s a race towards the inevitable, towards relative truth and un-reliable form.

In collaboration with the performers and composer Zacharias Wolfe, as well as off-the-record collaboration with hundreds of filmmakers, directors and fabricated characters, the work explores ideas around honesty, passion and a non-linear journey towards the self.

Alpha Misfits becomes the self-categorised outsider; a slightly dysfunctional mechanism, unwilling to adapt.

Stratus: An experience Combining Installation Art & Virtual Reality

We want to invite you to an installation created in The Crypt Gallery, Euston, the start of this story. Here you will be free to roam around the listed building until you discover VR headsets, gateways to our digital universe. Using these you are then free to explore a world situated in a science fiction story about a space mission gone wrong. As you journey through two different environments, your own identity is questioned. Where do you end and something else begin and what are the limits to your own existence?

SOUND/IMAGE Festival | University of Greenwich

The Anatomy of a Caress is streamed at SOUND/IMAGE Festival 2022.

Through a scientific exploration of the inner workings of human’s sense of touch, The Anatomy of a Caress explores how our tactile abilities relate to the larger themes and paradoxes of human existence, transience and interpersonal relationships. The Anatomy of a Caress is a film by a group of friends who met for a week to make music and art in the depths of the Swedish countryside. Underscored by an ephemeral arrangement of a Bach chorale it is a spiritual ode to fragility, intimacy and existential meaning and takes the viewer on a poetical journey on what it means to be human and the silent communication of physical touch.

Collaborators: Amalia Young, Andrew Zhou, Bilge Nur Yilmaz, Robert Burton, Keity Pook, Bun Kobayashi
